Enhancing Coating Adhesion on Fibre-Reinforced Composite by Femtosecond Laser Texturing

نویسندگان

چکیده

Carbon fibre-reinforced polymers (CFRP), thanks to their properties such as lightness, resistance corrosion and fatigue, are emerging composite materials in the aeronautic fields, guaranteeing reduce weight costs by maintaining high performances terms of strength security. For preventing fluid damage freezing, applications, CFRP parts need be coated painting. However, paint/coating adhesion on composites is generally poor affected surface conditions. In this work, femtosecond laser texturing was investigated an approach improve superhydrophobic coatings (SHC) substrates. The textured surfaces show, after coating, a more lasting behaviour compared received sample, even several cleaning cycles, demonstrating that pre-treatment reliable green method enhance SHC substrate.

Novel fibre laser sources based on point-by-point femtosecond laser inscribed fibre Bragg gratings

Like any other laser, a fibre laser consists of an active medium (in this case a piece of doped optical fibre) between two feedback elements. While Fresnel reflection from the fibre end facet can assume the role of a broadband partially reflecting output coupler, fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) are an obvious choice for the implementation of a frequency selective high reflector in an all-fibre desi...

Machining of Fibre Reinforced Plastic Composite Materials

Fibre reinforced plastic composite materials are difficult to machine because of the anisotropy and inhomogeneity characterizing their microstructure and the abrasiveness of their reinforcement components. During machining, very rapid cutting tool wear development is experienced, and surface integrity damage is often produced in the machined parts. An accurate selection of the proper tool and m...

Effect of surface texturing by femtosecond laser on tantalum carbide ceramics for solar receiver applications

Tantalum carbide, as a Ultra-High Temperature Ceramic, is known to be characterized by intrinsic spectral selectivity, which makes it attractive for novel high-temperature thermal solar absorbers. However, a weakness point of TaC is the solar absorbance, which, in absence of any treatment, is usually lower than that of other materials currently under development for solar absorber applications....

Effect of resin coating on adhesion of composite crown restoration.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a resin coating technique on the microtensile bond strength (microTBS) of resin cement to dentin in composite crown restorations. Crown preparations were done on human molars. A resin coating material, Hybrid Bond, was immediately applied to the prepared dentin and light-cured, while the tooth without resin coating acted as the control. An...

Frictional heating in a unidirectional fibre-reinforced ceramic composite

Holmes and Shuler [1] recently found that significant internal heating occurs during the cyclic loading of fibre-reinforced ceramics. In their investigation, conducted with cross-ply carbon fibre/SiC matrix composites (hereafter referred to as Cf/SiC), it was observed that the extent of internal heating was strongly influenced by the peak fatigue stress and loading frequency. For example, durin...
